Made-to-Measure Motorhome Mattresses

No two motorhome beds are the same. A fixed French bed has a corner cut away to clear the wardrobe; an island bed you walk around on both sides; twin singles drop an infill between them to make a double; an over-cab Luton bunk perches high above the cab, and an electric drop-down bed rises flat to the ceiling by day. A shop-bought domestic mattress simply won’t sit right against angled corners, tapered feet or the shallow box over a garage — so every motorhome mattress we make is cut to your bed’s own dimensions and its actual shape.

Mattress-making is what we’ve done in Britain for more than 40 years, and motorhomes — coachbuilt, A-class, low-profile — are everyday work in our Birmingham workshop. The shape tool above will price your own bed in about a minute; if you’d rather talk it through, send a few measurements and a rough sketch and we’ll draw up a mattress that meets every wall of the recess. You pick the depth and the feel, from featherweight foams that leave headroom in your payload to a deep pocket-sprung build for a proper fixed bedroom.

French and island beds, transverse doubles, twin singles, over-cab Luton bunks, drop-down beds and the low box above a garage — we’ll cut yours as one piece, as a hinged fold, or as a split set, whatever the layout asks for. Each is built to order and certified to BS 7177, the fire standard your insurer will look for, then vacuum-rolled and boxed slim enough to lift in through the habitation door. Delivery across mainland UK is free, and you’re covered by a guarantee of up to 10 years.

Motorhome Mattress FAQs

How do I measure my motorhome bed for a made-to-measure mattress?

Take the full length and the widest point of the base, then write down any angled corner (French beds nearly always have one), taper or curve. Twin singles are best measured one berth at a time — mention the infill gap if there is one. For anything genuinely awkward, cut a paper or cardboard template and pop it in with your order; we’ll follow it to the millimetre.

How does the shape tool work?

Choose the outline that matches your bed, type in your figures, then set the depth, firmness and foam — the price for your exact motorhome mattress appears there and then, no sign-up required. Bed not among the standard shapes? Message us a photo or sketch on WhatsApp and we’ll price it by hand.

Can you make a mattress for a French bed with a cut corner?

Yes — angled, cut-corner French beds come through the workshop constantly. Send us the corner measurement or a template and we’ll shape the mattress to suit, so it beds flush against the wall with no draughty gap and still swings clear of the wardrobe door.

What about over-cab and drop-down beds?

Over-cab Luton beds and electric drop-down beds get a slimmer, lighter build, because up there both headroom and weight are tight. The support is still there — just in a profile low enough to lift or fold away without fouling the roof.

Can you replace twin single mattresses and make the infill?

We can. Twin singles are made as a matched pair, and we’ll add a made-to-measure infill that drops between them to turn the two into one wide double whenever you want it — cut from the same foam at the same firmness, so there’s no ridge down the middle.

What thickness should a motorhome mattress be?

That comes down to the bed and the headroom above it. A fixed rear or island bed will usually carry 15–20cm comfortably; over-cab and drop-down beds are happier at a trimmer 10–15cm so they still stow. Not sure? Tell us the model and we’ll point you to the right depth.

Are your motorhome mattresses fire-safety certified?

They are. Everything we build is certified to BS 7177 — the contract fire-safety standard motorhome insurers look for — and that certification is included on every mattress at no extra cost.

How long does it take, and how is it delivered?

Because each mattress is cut to order, turnaround is usually 5–12 working days, a little longer at peak season, and you get a firm date at checkout. It ships vacuum-rolled in a box, free anywhere in mainland UK, ready to unpack and let breathe back into shape.

How much does a custom motorhome mattress cost?

Price tracks the size, the depth, the foam and how much shaping is involved — a plain rectangle is the cheapest, a cut-corner French bed or a shaped garage bed a little more. Rather than guess, use the tool above: it prices your exact spec on the spot, before you commit a penny.
